Fun at the Zoo

We went to the Boise Zoo with my good friend Kaysha and her son William. We are movin' on up because now we have giraffes and lions at the zoo. What what! We had a great time, here are our pictures in reverse order, thanks blogger! Poor 1 year old Willaim wondered what duck poo tasted like and we caught him a little too late. Yikes.
Katelyn to William: Let's sword fight, woh woh woh. (My best impression of sword noises. Hee hee)Katelyn feeding the baby ducks. She is fearless. I had to tell her several times to stay back from the hissing geese.

Preston just hanging out, William is in the background.

When Katelyn saw this picture she said, "The lion said roar to me." Fact: He was yawning.

Katelyn with the Giraffes, I personally was really excited for these.

My Birthday Week

Taken outside the "Great" Saltair and with both of us still oblivious as to the actual state of the concert venue. Only moments after this shot was taken, Stephen swears he nearly dinged David Archuletta's door getting out of the car. (He drives a Ford Escape Hybrid. What a wuss.) We had it confirmed that David was at the concert, I'm still suspicious of Stephen's claims he almsto fought him.
The inside of the "Great" Saltair. There was not enough hot water at the hotel to feel clean after hanging out at this place for 5 hours. FOB and Donny's Mr. Robotica impression made the filthiness worth it this time, but be warned.
Waiting patiently on the floor of the "Great" Saltair through several mediocre punk bands for FOB and The D.O.
Surely this made it all worth it. Stephen tried to get a picture of the band with Donny, but he stuck to his side of the stage and they stuck to theirs. You can see clearly in the above picture, though, that they were all there. Pete was sporting a shiny black eye--and while he never really said where it came from, he was on the business end of several annoyed D. Osmond glances while the two shared the stage.
Stephen and Preston chilling on the flight down. Whether it was the engine noise or the minor turbulence that made the flight roller-coaster-like, Preston wouldn't stop smiling all the way down.
Anyone who knows me knows that I celebrate my birthday over a week's time. I love my birthday. So here's the good times that we had. We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with the Nicolaysens, and then I went with my mom and brothers to the Olive Garden the next night. On Monday we were lucky enough to fly instead of drive to Utah. We brought Preston along with us and Stephen's brother (Bret) and his wife (Laurel) watched him while we went to a FALL OUT BOY concert that night! We had such a great time. There were some crazies there, but by the end of the night, it didn't matter. Stephen parked us next to David Archuletta before the concert, and Donny Osmond was amazing up on the stage with FOB. I don't care what everyone thinks--he's poised for a comeback. Stephen had to work while we were down there so I had to go shopping pretty much all the time, it was rough. He did take most of the day off on my birthday (April 14th) and the guy took me shopping and to the Olive Garden. We really enjoyed our mini vaca and staying in a nice hotel--I enjoyed eating out all the time. Pam and Carl watched Katelyn so we could go, thanks guys! What a great week we had, I am a lucky girl.

Easter

We went to my Dad's house for an Easter Egg hunt and dinner on Saturday night. Katelyn fell asleep in the car but was still anxious and willing to hunt for eggs.
Swimming in my Dad's outdoor heated pool, we had such a great time!

Katelyn was so excited that the Easter Bunny came. We did my tradition of putting the basket by the bed and Stephen's of doing a hunt in the morning, and it was a lot of fun. Thanks to Grandma Mary for providing the goodies.
Grandma Mary also bought Katelyn a Easter hat and white gloves, and the little stinker bug wouldn't put them on! She did bring the purse to church though. We had Easter dinner at the Nicolaysen's house. What a great holiday.

Shout out to Stephen...

Today I went to a baby shower, I took Preston and left Katelyn home with Stephen. When I got home, this was revealed to me...

Stephen cleaned out and organized our hall closet!!! Yes you heard right. I am flabbergasted (if that's really a word) And he was watching Katelyn. If you remember my post about my bad closet keeping, this one was so bad I wouldn't even post a picture. Now everything has it's place. Thank you so much Stephen. This would have never gotten done without you. I love you so very much!!!

Firsts at the Nicolaysens...

We have had some firsts in our house. Katelyn is being potty trained. She has done really well accept for today. But she is excited to be in "Big girl underwear". To get her to go we have to pretend that we are going to and she says, no me, and runs to the toilet. Oh today I was using the ladies room and Katelyn said, "Stand up, I need to wipe your bum." Nice.

Preston rolled over when only Stephen was looking about a week ago and hasn't since. I have been trying every single day and the moment I am not in the room, he rolls over. I'm jealous if you can't tell.

And for me, as some of you may know, I started weight watchers. I found out today that so far I have lost over 6 pounds. I have never lost weight besides baby weight. So now I am 12.5 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant. What What!!!

Sewing advice...

So when I bought my first sewing machine it was when we first got married and I got it on clearnance for $50. It does great straight lines, but that's about it. For my birthday, I want to get a new sewing machine, so if you love yours, leave a comment and tell me what you have. I want to get one that's between $200-300. If yours is more than that, don't tease me. Thanks.
